Front Yard Makeover

Project Description:
Front yard had old wooden retaining walls that were unsightly and falling over. There was also a block wall built along the property line, that was leaning due to improper installation.
The Challenge:
We needed to rebuild the existing retaining wall along the property line as it was leaning. Once the rotten wooden retaining walls were removed we noticed the support posts for the deck and roof were improperly installed and completely rotten.
The Solution:
We removed the existing retaining wall and rebuilt it. We made the wall a little shorter to keep it below 4 feet in height and installed proper drainage behind the wall as the original wall did not have proper drainage. The old posts were just burried in the ground and had rotten away. We needed to shore up the existing deck , pour concrete footings and install new posts to support the weight of the deck and roof. we then built the new wall behind the post so no soil would be up against the post and it would last much longer. Once the new walls were in place we added some plants and new sod.

On Going Project

Project Description:
This is an ongoing project that we have been working on throughout the year. Project includes transplanting existing trees and shubs, regrading the backyard, adding a 2 tiered retaining wall with steps, lights and waterfalls. Adding a Flagstone firepit area with built in swing, small garden walls, new garden areas and shrubs, a wood storage shed, and in the future a large patio area and possibly a pool.
The Challenge:
The backyard was one big slope with large overgrown bushes down the middle, creating a lot of unusable space. Homeowner was wanting to create some space that can still be used while the house undergoes a large addition. A majority of the large structures that require larger machinery needed to be completed first before the addition that would limit access to the backyard.
The Solution:
We put together a plan: Remove overgrown and unhealthy trees/shrubs. Transplant wanted trees and shrubs to areas of the yard that made sense to open up more usable area. Regrade the yard to remove the slope and create 2 flat areas by adding a retaining wall. Once the retaining wall was built we had decided to add a fire pit and swing in the lower area to provide a gathering area for the homeowners to enjoy with friends and family. We look forward to returning to complete the project.
